About

SSX India

Indian Society for the Study of Xenobiotics (SSX) was established in 2016 as a non-profit association, with the mission of “increasing the awareness and developing the knowledge of DMPK/ADMET science to the Indian scientific community" by conducting annual conferences, workshops and DMPK-related courses. Our conference is one of the premier conferences organised in India, specifically in the area of drug discovery and development.

We have successfully conducted 8 Annual International Conferences, with a steady increase in the number of participants every year from the drug discovery and development Research Area, and participation by eminent scientists, students, academicians, and industry representatives.

In addition to the annual conferences, SSX also took the following student-focused initiatives with the help of academic institutions:

A certificate course on DMPK for students and young investigators was launched in August 2019 with around 160 registrations in the first year itself. This course provides a fundamental understanding of DMPK concepts, including the techniques and applications that facilitate the translation from preclinical to clinical studies. To date, more than 1000+ students and professionals have participated in this course.

Hands-on workshop on modeling and simulation using Pumas

Workshop on Physiological-Based Pharmacokinetics modeling (PBPK)

The SSX organised the 7th Asia Pacific ISSX hosted by SSX-India at Bangalore in February 2021.

SSX India Logo

In 2019, Society wanted to have a logo so that we can communicate our objectives visually, and also to have a distinct identity. We wanted it to be simple, meaningful and memorable. Thanks to Dr. Vinay H. K. for designing this logo, which was finalized based on the feedback from SSX organizing committee members.

Overall objective of SSX Society is to integrate the knowledge generated in different related disciplines like Pharmacokinetics, Biotransformation, Bioanalysis, Biology, Modelling, Pharmaceutics, Medicinal chemistry, Toxicology, Translational research etc., and utilize it to promote Human Health. Star indicates healing, which is restoration of health and vitality. Colors are also widely used to communicate a message. Parrot Green (inner circle upper) communicates Nature, in our perspective it can be referred to Science. It is the colour of Growth and Health. Light Blue (inner circle lower) communicates Deep; it is the shade of Sea and the Sky, Colour of Integrity. We need to deeply understand scientific disciplines and integrate it well to develop drugs for the benefit of human health.
